Saturday Night Soup

This was the first Saturday of 2019… wait … it IS 2019 right ? I don’t think I’ve quite wrapped my mind around that ! Anyway… I took a much needed day for myself and loved every minute of it. ๐Ÿ™‚

The highlight of the day was taking Charlie for a cruise to Ka’u. I’ve always liked that area but today something CLICKED and I realized that I LOVE it. Since dogs aren’t allowed at beach parks we headed up the mountain instead. There’a something to be said for a road that gets narrower as you go, especially when you have no idea where it’s taking you! ๐Ÿ™‚

After that, we popped into the park. It was a perfect, pristine day with a soft cool breeze and infinite sunshine. And even though trails and roads are closed due to the earthquakes and, most recently, the government shutdown, people still came in droves. It’s nice to see the park getting such love!

To top it off, I experimented with a new recipe once I got home. Golden Soup made with cauliflower, cashews, turmeric, garlic and onion.

Topped with some avocado and a touch of tobasco (because tobasco belongs in most things), it was warm soothing bowl of YUM.

And there we have it . The first Saturday of the year in the books and a mighty fine one at that. ๐Ÿ™‚
