Day 18: What’s your passion?
Last night, I was struck by Hawea’s inspired state as she bustled about the kitchen, preparing dinner. She was creating from the heart, working from a place of passion.
The meal itself was simple: po’ boy sandwiches. She started by scooping some of the innards out of a loaf of french bread, making a “boat” to hold the filling. Next up, italian sausage, garlic shrimp sauteed with caramelized onions and green peppers. That layer was topped with thin slices of havarti cheese, lightly seasoned, and finished with thinly sliced tomato, sprouts and a schmear of mayo.
Yes, it was delicious. 🙂
But better than the meal itself was the chance to see her so thoroughly in her element, immersed in joy, feeling satisfied.
To know one’s passions in life is sacred knowledge, and that knowing doesn’t always come easy.
What’s amazing to me as I consider my friends and family is their diverse range of interests and strengths.
Amongst my loved ones are rock-star parents, foodies, artists, surfers, travelers, runners, musicians, dancers, yogis, gym rats, bakers, community organizers, writers, genealogists, antique collectors, animal whisperers, civic volunteers, stargazers, bookworms, etc. The list seems to be endless.
If you are one of the lucky ones who knows your passion, it’s my hope that you realize your gift, and joyfully share it on behalf of those still searching.
“Live your life so that when it’s time to ask where the time went, you can answer: “It went to joyful moments with family and friends, to my search for passion, to doing work that felt like play, to standing up for what I believe in, and to exploring this beautiful world we live in with an open heart. My time went to LIVING my life!” –— Marc and Angel
