Day 4: Who loves to save a buck?

Last weekend I wanted to pick up a sugar scrub at Target. The cheapest option was about $4 (right price, weird ingredients). The preferred option with all natural ingredients was about $13. And that’s when inspiration struck! WHY NOT MAKE THIS USING INGREDIENTS I HAVE AT HOME?

Sooooo… here we have it:

DIY SUGAR SCRUB
2 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil
zest and juice of 1 lemon

Pour the sugar in a bowl. Take 1/4 cup of coconut oil and microwave it for 20-30 seconds to liquefy. Using a zester or grater, zest the lemon peel. Juice the lemons in a separate container, separate out the seeds. Add the lemon juice, zest and coconut oil to the sugar, and mix well.

Here’s the MOST IMPORTANT step! Make sure you prepare in advance by buying and eating an entire container of gelato (flavor optional). This way you’ll have the perfect sized container to store your tropical (surprisingly tasty) spa scrub in!!!

I just gave it a test run and am pretty happy with how it turned out: it smelled great, left my skin feeling soft, was easy to make, and free of toxic chemicals. And bonus – it didn’t cost me a cent. πŸ™‚
