Eggnog and rum balls and poker – oh my!

Wendy’s cabin.

Welcome to Diane and Wendy’s… the home of the coziest Christmas Eve gathering in recent memory. We headed out to their place around 2 yesterday afternoon – the first to arrive, and the last to leave. 🙂

Di had awesome music –  a great variety that kept the mood perfectly warm, happy and just… right.  I wanted to know her secret (and to borrow her playlists). Two words: Pandora shuffle.

Charlie Rose got to meet her aunties, and soaked up the lovin’ like a pro.  Benny  got a little bit of attention too. 🙂

Of course, there was a gift exchange. One of my favorites were fish ornaments Wendy made – selected to match each friend’s personality. I  LOVED this idea and she did such a great job with them.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without good food – and there was plenty of it! I was more interested in eating it than taking pictures of it, so I don’t have much to show you. I can attest to the fact that it was goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. 🙂

A sampling of some of the food… yum, yum, and yum.

To sum it up, it was an evening of eggnog, wine, rum balls, great music, puppy dogs, poker and presents… lots of laughs and joy in being together. It’s the way the holidays are meant to be.

A huge thank you to Diane and Wendy for all they did to make it a memorable evening. We’re already looking forward to next year, and I’m wondering when I should start perfecting the rum balls. Is the weekend too soon?
